2009 Atlanta Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival, RECAP

The 2009 Atlanta Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival was hosted by the Hong Kong Information Center in Atlanta and held at the 96’ Olympic Venue Lake Lanier Canoe Kayak Club on Saturday, September 12, 2009.

Activities commenced with races beginning at 9:15 am and the colorful Opening Ceremonies at 12:45pm. The race has grown from a handful of teams and a few spectators to an event which is one of the hallmark diversity events in the metro Atlanta area. The race enjoys an even larger field of more than 50 teams with over 5,000 spectators and a wide variety of Chinese artisans either performing or displaying their wares.

Over 23,000 viewers watched the event during the event’s broadcast, which was presented LIVE, and is on replay now, on The LCKC Channel at http://www.livestream.com/lckc.
