Success in Poznan for Sprint Masters

Aleksandras Ambotas and Ivan Kireev from the Rockaway Olympic Canoe & Kayak club represented Team USA.
ICF Canoe Sprint Masters Championship was held in Poznan, Poland on Aug 14-15, 2010. Two hundred seventy three athletes from 17 countries competed on the lake Malta race course.
Two paddlers Aleksandras Ambotas and Ivan Kireev from the Rockaway Olympic Canoe & Kayak club represented United States of America. Aleksandras Ambotas took a sliver medal in K-1 500M (age category 45-54 years old) with a result 1:51.1.. The winner in this race was a kayaker Arzt Thomas from Germany with a time 1:50.3. The third place got Rutkowskij Mariusz from Poland with time 1:51..2. Thirty four paddlers competed in this age category.
American paddlers Ivan Kireev and Aleksandras Ambotas got a bronze medal racing K-2 500M (age category 45-54 years old). Germans came first with a time 1:42.2 the polish crew came second with a time 1:42.5 and Americans stop the clock at 1:42.5.
On the next day racing the long distance 2000 meters Ivan Kireev and Aleksandras Ambotas also came third paddling K-2 (age category 45-54 years old). Germans won a race and polish paddlers came second. At the end of the day Americans finally won a K-4 long distance race. Aleksandras Ambotas and Ivan Kireev together with two paddlers from Lithuania reached the finish line first. Second place got paddlers from Poland and third place got a crew from Ukraine.
