USA Canoe/Kayak Names Guy Wilding Sprint National Team Coach

USA Canoe/Kayak has officially named Guy Wilding as the Sprint National Team Coach. Guy's primary responsibility will be to coach the 1000 Meter Olympic Program that is primarily based at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California.
Guy comes to the program after several successful years in Australia as the full time 'Head Coach' of the NSW Institute of Sport and 'National High Performance Coach' - coaching elite as well as developing athletes. Guy also served as a Australian National Senior Team Coach and has been the Head Coach of the National U/23 Team. Guy has been coaching several elite level athletes within Australia's Senior National Team.
Guy has previously worked within the U.S. Canoe/Kayak program as the head coach for the Lanier Canoe/Kayak Club and several other assigned coaching positions within Junior and Senior National teams. In 2006, he served as USA Canoe/Kayak's National Development Coach and also coached at the 2005 & 2006 Senior World Cups and World Championships in addition to coaching the Junior National World Championship tour.
Among his many accomplishments in 2009 Guy was named as the Australian Canoeing "Coach of the Year" and a finalist of the NSW Institute of Sport "Coach of the Year" award.

Guy is a proud father of a 7 year old daughter and 12 year old son and happily married to Shelley Oates-Wilding, an accomplished Olympic Team member of Australia's Sprint kayaking team in 1996 in Atlanta and 2000 in Sydney.
