General Info

Entry Requirements
All athletes must have a valid individual or family membership and be in good financial standing with USA Canoe Kayak (USACK).

Contact the USACK Office if you have questions about your USACK membership.

  • Competitors must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents.
  • Competitors in the Senior Trials must have been born during or before 1994.
  • Competitors in the Junior Trials must have been born during 1991, 1992, 1993, or 1994.

Boat Control

  • All boats must meet the SRC boat specifications defined in the SRC Racing Rules, Section V. Classes and Building Rules.

  • Pre-competition certification: Thursday, April 23, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the OTC Boathouse.
  • All boats should complete pre-competition boat control.
  • Race Day Boat Control will open 1 hour prior to the first race of the session.

Athlete Check-In
Thursday, April 23, 2009, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the OTC Boathouse
Proof of age (Passport, Driver's License, etc.) must be provided at Athlete Check-In.

Required Forms
Competitors must submit:

  • Signed (with parent/guardian signature as required) USACK Waiver
  • Code of Conduct
  • Agreement to the Selection Criteria forms to compete in the Team Trials

Forms will be sent to all Trials registrants. Forms may be downloaded on this page. Signed forms must be emailed to sprint@usack.org, faxed to the USA Canoe/Kayak National office (fax 704-348-4418), or submitted at Athlete Check-in.

OTC Housing and Meal Plans

  • Limited on-site housing at the USOC Olympic Training Center (OTC) in Chula Vista is available during the Team Trials.
  • Junior athlete housing will be coordinated by Mac Hickox. Athletes eligible for OTC housing during the Trials have been contacted.
  • Senior athlete housing will be coordinated by Nathan Luce.
  • Senior athlete housing allocations will be based on performances at the 2008 Olympic Trials and 2008 National Championships.
  • Contact Nathan Luce by March 31, 2009 if you think you are eligible for OTC housing during the Trials.
  • OTC Meal Cards are available for purchase for $30. per day. Individual meal purchases are not available.
  • Contact sprint@usack.org to request meal cards. Payment for OTC Meal Cards is due before the Meal Card can be issued.

Pre-Trials Training
Training for athletes who are not part of the OTC Residency Program is available starting Monday, April 20, 2009. Workouts must be coordinate with Nathan Luce or Mac Hickox.
