The 2009 Nationals have been awarded to the Los Angeles Kayak Club. They will take place from October 23-25 at Hansen Dam Recreation Area (site of the 2003 Nationals). This is in the city of Sylmar about 34 miles from LAX.
There will be 2 pitches in a long, shallow pool, and there will be warm-up areas either at the end of the pool or in the adjacent recreation lake. There is ample free parking at the venue. The pool is in a large open area with grass and gravel/sand. There are some trees and structures for shade, but there is not much shelter. The weather is usually good in October, however, rain and cold weather is possible. The water will probably be cold. There are open-air showers, and many bathrooms. There is no hot water. We can store boats at the venue overnight.
Food vendors will be available on site.
