EAHI Sprint Criteria

There are 8 EAHI slots available for EAHI qualifying sprint athletes.

EAHI will be offered to athletes based on the results of the 2010 Sprint World Championships (August 19-22, 2010 in Poznan, POL). Olympic events reflecting the most competitive likelihood of winning medals at future Olympic Games will be prioritized (see prioritized list below). Based on the 2010 Sprint World Championships results, athletes in the winning USA boat in the prioritized events that place within the top one-third of the field will be offered EAHI. Only athletes racing in Olympic events at the 2010 Sprint World Championships are eligible for EAHI.

If an athlete is selected to the 2010 Sprint World Championships team and while at the World Championships has to withdraw from racing due to a documented medical emergency, which inhibits them from achieving the results required to be offered EAHI based on the criteria above, that athlete will still be offered EAHI. The replacement athlete in that event will only be offered EAHI if slots are available. This replacement athlete will be offered EAHI before any unallocated EAHI slots are distributed.

In the event there are insufficient EAHI slots available for an entire Team Boat, the slot will be awarded to the athlete from that boat who had the highest overall ranking in the Men's K1 1000m, Men's C1 1000m, Men's K-1 200m or the Women's K1 500m events at the 2010 Senior National Team Trials.

If an athlete participates at the 2010 Sprint World Championships in multiple EAHI Qualifying Events, or declines to enroll in the EAHI program, the unused EAHI slot(s) will go to the next prioritized boat from the list above.

The period of coverage will begin upon athlete enrollment (approximately 4-6 weeks after the conclusion of the 2010 Sprint World Championships) until new 2010 EAHI Allocations are made.
Any EAHI slots that are available after all eligible athletes have accepted or declined, per the criteria above, will remain unallocated to Sprint athletes and transfer to Slalom athletes provided they meet the Slalom EAHI criteria.

For both Slalom and Sprint, should there be any available EAHI slots left after the eligible athletes have either accepted or declined, those remaining slots will remain unused.
