2009 Junior Wildwater Team Update, from World Championships in Switzerland
by Chris Osment / July 16, 2009
All the US paddlers performed well yesterday. The US Wildwater team, both junior and senior, over the past twenty years is not known for being a strong team from top to bottom. Periodically we have one or two who make a good showing and get into the top twenty. Success for us is to compete, to show other nations that we can race with the best and represent US paddlesport.
On Wednesday in the Classic Race, Peter Lutter finished 19, and was within 5% of the champion from France. There were 54 K1 Men, Peter was about 12th on the start list, and had a blazing time of 21min 13 seconds. Peter sat in 1st place on the leader board for a long time. Only until the last 20 racers did he move down. It was excitnig. Other coaches came over and complimented his race. We look forward to Saturdays sprint race, where anything can happen in the short distance event.
Results are being posted every day on the race website at www.jwwc2009.com. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the UK flag for the english version.
