Day 2 from 2009 Junior Sprint Worlds, Afternoon Report
by Mac Hickox / August 01, 2009
DAY #2 1000M FINALS
B Final Luke Potts and Cedric Bond - Lane # 1 - 9th 3:32.910
Conditons - moderate tailwind - 28 C
The boys were somewhat puzzled - they were solid after 250m but the field started to move away in spite of their planned pick up. The boat just seemd to lack the distance per stroke that they normally feel. Perhaps their extraordinary effort this morning took a larger toll than they thought
They are looking forward to the 500 tomorrow as they feel they have solved the starting gate system used at the World Championships. It is a big adjustment for our athletes and they have worked hard to master the "boot"
Presently the team is together in the grandstand watching the A Finals
Tomorrow is the final day - 500m semis in the am and Finals in the afternoon.
The team will eat together tonight at 7:00 and have a brief meeting - then it is up for 7:00 and breakfast. The team will come to the course for 8:00
I have just checked the Org Com website and the results are going on line.
